Birds

Together with you and scientists from various disciplines, the City of Vienna wants to learn more about the biodiversity at "Am Heidjöchl." How can this be achieved? Under the guidance of experts, you will embark on guided expeditions into the urban development area. You will observe and experience the biodiversity on site. Using the special iNaturalist app, you can identify, classify, and record the animals you discover. These findings will be directly incorporated into the open space planning of the future district in order to preserve and promote valuable habitats for flora and fauna.

Registration for the expeditions is mandatory for organizational reasons. Your walking ability should not be impaired for the expeditions, as the paths through the site are not barrier-free. If people with limited walking ability would like to participate in the project, please contact us directly at mitreden@ma21.wien.gv.at.

Please download the iNaturalist app from Google Play or the Apple Store before the expedition. Wear sturdy shoes, long trousers and bring sunscreen, rain gear, drinks, and perhaps a small snack. If you have binoculars, a magnifying glass, or field guides, please feel free to bring them. The district planning office will provide a spotting scope and two pairs of binoculars.

Participation in the tours is at your own risk. Entering agricultural land and construction sites is prohibited. Expeditions will only take place in good weather conditions; changes are subject to change.
